What is Cross-Country Skiing?

Cross-country skiing (also known as Nordic skiing) is a winter sport where athletes glide over snow-covered terrain using skis and poles. Unlike alpine skiing, which is typically done on downhill slopes, cross-country skiing is performed on flat or gently rolling terrain, making it an endurance-based sport.

Styles of Cross-Country Skiing:
-
Classic Skiing: The traditional style where skiers move in parallel tracks, similar to walking. This is a slower-paced form focused on endurance.
-
Skate Skiing: A faster style that resembles ice skating, where skiers push off at an angle, allowing for higher speeds.
Cross-country skiing is an excellent cardiovascular workout, engaging your entire body, and promoting strength, flexibility, and balance. It’s also a relatively low-impact activity, making it an accessible winter sport for many.
